Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings
You probably already know the drill whenever you walk into a dentist’s office for a checkup. After we’ve made a thorough examination of your teeth (which occasionally involves taking X-rays), we can recommend specific treatments or procedures meant to protect and/or restore your oral health. We’ll also take this opportunity to clean your mouth of plaque and tartar; you might have missed some areas of your teeth brushing on your own, and tartar in particular can’t be removed without a professional’s help.

Oral Cancer Screenings
About 53,000 Americans are diagnosed with oral cancer every year, and those who have their condition found as early as possible will have a much better chance of survival. In order to identify oral cancer at the stage where treatment is more effective, we’ll perform an oral cancer screening at each of your checkups. Said screenings simply consist of looking for red or white patches or mouth sores. We’ll also feel around for abnormal lumps.

Nightguards for Bruxism
Sometimes we might find that your teeth are looking rounder than they normally should at your age. This is often a sign that bruxism (nighttime teeth grinding) is slowly but surely wearing the enamel down. If it goes on for too long, you may start to run the risk of fracturing your weakened teeth. Thus, to give your smile some protection at night, we can provide nightguards that have been designed to fit perfectly in your mouth.

Fluoride Treatment
For decades now, fluoride has been an indispensable part of oral health care. It can be found in your toothpaste and your drinking water, and it plays an important role in strengthening teeth and preventing cavities. During a professional treatment, the fluoride can be applied directly to the teeth in a highly concentrated rinse, foam, or gel form. It only takes a few minutes, although you’ll need to avoid eating or drinking for at least half an hour afterwards.
