Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are actually made of multiple prosthetic teeth. Two crowns make up the ends of the bridge, and at least one false tooth (called a pontic) is held in place between them. The pontics are what directly replace the missing teeth; the crowns are used to anchor the bridge in place by resting on top of the abutment teeth on either side of the gap. Pontics and crowns can both be made out of a variety of materials, but natural-looking porcelain is usually preferred.

Dentures
There are two types of dentures you can get. The kind that comes to mind immediately is likely full dentures, which are used to replace an entire arch of teeth at once. Partial dentures can be used to fill in multiple gaps while you still have most of your teeth. (In fact, some patients get partial dentures for a single tooth). Regardless, you can rest assured that your dentures will be carefully customized so that they look beautiful and feel comfortable whenever you wear them.

Dental Implants
Instead of altering existing teeth for a bridge or relying on dentures that might eventually not fit as well as they used to, we may recommend dental implants for your new teeth. Dental implants effectively act as replacement tooth roots that help preserve the jawbone and anchor your restoration in place. Implants are extremely durable and easy to take care of; it’s not uncommon for them to last the rest of your life with minimal maintenance.
